Decisions in Dentistry
Dentists may now take detailed pictures of the dentition and its surroundings thanks to cone beam scanning. The use of this modality in dental implant planning can help the dentist with the diagnostic stage of case planning, and the cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) data can later be used to create surgical guides for dental implants. It is undeniable that CBCT provides more precise images of periodontal bone architecture than conventional films do, however there is little evidence to support the higher expense of cone beam imaging in terms of better periodontal diagnosis or total treatment success. Still, CBCT can be helpful in assessing bony regeneration processes and identifying other root anomalies.

Dental Economics
In dentistry, new ideas, methods, tools, and technology are emerging so quickly that it can be challenging to know when to adopt them or stick with tried-and-true methods. Several of the new techniques appear to be more expensive and complicated. As a result, Gordon J. Christensen, DDS, PhD, MSD, a practicing prosthodontist in Provo, Utah, and cofounder and CEO of Clinicians Report, has chosen a few of the most significant recent developments and will discuss both the techniques that are unquestionably superior to more traditional ideas and those that are not. Included are each concept’s benefits and drawbacks as well as his recommendations for the finest ones, which are based on both study and clinical observation.
