Nearly 20,000 mother-child pairs were tracked over a median follow-up of 4 years. After adjusting for maternal risk factors and their children’s own ultra-processed food intake, physical activity, and sedentary time, maternal consumption of ultra-processed foods during the child-rearing period was associated with overweight or obesity in offspring with a 26% higher risk in the group with the highest maternal ultra-processed food consumption.

This case-control study carried out at six hospitals between Oct 2021 and July 2022 found that boosters yielded a 75% reduction in COVID hospitalization risk in the first 50 days post-booster, declining to 25% reduction in hospitalization risk at over 150 days. Other factors associated with an increased odds of hospitalization for COVID-19 included age of 70 years or older, male sex, cognitive disease, COPD, diabetes, immunodeficiency, obesity, rheumatologic disease, transplant, and Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination.

In a study of more than 22,000 patients with schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, or bipolar disorder, 24% also had obsessive-compulsive symptoms; 12% had a diagnosis of OCD. Both co-morbidities were associated with higher rates of aggressive behavior, cognitive problems, and hallucinations or delusions.

In a study involving 212 adults with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis, an unsupervised online yoga program delivered via prerecorded videos over 12 weeks netted improved physical function vs. the control group. At 12 weeks, knee stiffness, quality of life, and arthritis self-efficacy improved more with yoga than the control intervention. Benefits were not maintained at 24 weeks. Adverse events were minor.

In this cross-sectional study of US adults hospitalized with COVID-19 during January 2022 to April 2022, hospitalization rates from COVID were 10.5 times higher in unvaccinated persons and 2.5 times higher in vaccinated persons with no booster dose, respectively, compared with those who had received a booster dose.
