The authors describe the case as well as the science around TRD and ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP), explore the patient’s patterns of self-criticism and its impact on his depression and help-seeking, and their approach to KAP. The literature on chronic pain and stigma was reviewed by a group of academics from Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, who published their findings in the journal Pain and Therapy.
