CDA Mission Statement

The Canadian Dental Association (CDA) is the national voice for dentistry dedicated to the promotion of optimal oral health, an essential component of general health, and to the advancement and leadership of a unified profession.

JCDA.ca Mission Statement

JCDA.ca (Journal of the Canadian Dental Association) is the flagship scholarly, peer-reviewed publication of CDA, providing dialogue between the national association and the dental community. It is dedicated to publishing worthy scientific and clinical articles and informing dentists of issues significant to the profession.

CDA has focused its recent efforts on knowledge, advocacy and practice support initiatives and JCDA.ca is an essential part of CDA’s knowledge strategy.

About JCDA.ca

JCDA.ca is Canada’s only peer-reviewed dental journal. It is an online, open access publication that publishes original research articles that contribute to the literature. These articles are indexed in Medline, Journal Citation Reports and Science Citation Index.

JCDA.ca employs a continuous publication model which means that original clinical articles appear online only.

JCDA.ca has a scholarly emphasis featuring clinical research articles and clinically oriented literature reviews, along with professional issues and other epidemiology reports that inform oral health care policy in Canada. Such material published on JCDA.ca will have been reviewed by at least 2 external reviewers and be judged as an “addition to the dental literature.”

As of 2016, JCDA.ca will focus solely on publishing original research, comprehensive literature reviews, and proceedings of scholarly meetings. JCDA.ca will place particular value on working with authors and researchers from the Canadian dental schools to help promote and advance the body of knowledge of the profession. We would encourage Canadian oral health researchers (within Canada and beyond) and those who collaborate to submit manuscripts for review and potential publication.

CDA discontinued the print version of JCDA in 2014 when the new CDA Essentials / L’essentiel de l’ADC magazines were launched. The print JCDA was previously published in both English and French, however the new online JCDA.ca is an English-only publication. All archived JCDA content is now searchable and retrievable.

JCDA.ca aims to keep dentists up to date on clinical and scientific developments that are pertinent to dental practice in Canada by providing easily searchable information useful at the point of patient care.
