In this phase 1-2 study, patients with triple-class-exposed relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma experienced a high proportion of profound and long-lasting responses to teclistamab. Infections and cytopenias were frequent, and most grade 1 or 2 toxicities were consistent with T-cell misdirection.

Neoadjuvant cemiplimab was administered to a total of 79 individuals. Upon independent review, a pathological complete response (51 percent; 95% confidence interval [CI], 39 to 62) was noted in 40 patients, and a pathological substantial response (13 percent; 95% CI, 6 to 22) was noted in 10 patients. These outcomes matched the abnormal reactions identified during the investigator’s examination. Fifty-four (54) patients (68%; 95% CI, 57 to 78) had an objective response on imaging, and 69 individuals (87%) experienced adverse events of any grade that happened throughout the course of the study, regardless of whether they were linked to the study treatment. Fourteen (14) participants (18%) experienced adverse events of grade 3 or higher during the research period.

According to new information revealed in a study of the AHA’s COVID-19 Cardiovascular Disease Registry, new onset AFib occurs in 5% of patients hospitalized with COVID-19. Patients who developed new-onset AFib experienced longer hospital stays and approximately 45% died during their hospitalization. Atrial fibrillation can directly increase the risk of stroke and prolong hospitalization. It is also an indirect marker of the insult that the heart is experiencing when patients are infected with COVID-19.

The oral suspension formulation was developed for patients who have difficulty swallowing the tablet form of the PDE5 inhibitor.
