Twelve-hundred (1,200) patients admitted for 48 hours or more for COVID were randomized to 2.5mg of apixaban or placebo twice daily for 30 days. The incidence of death or thromboembolism was low and similar in the two arms of this study. The study was terminated early and the authors say the results are imprecise.

The study included 186 patients who had recently been diagnosed with advanced lung cancer (Stage IV). Investigators were curious about the relationship between depression levels and systemic inflammation ratio (SIR) biomarker levels at diagnosis. SIRs are made up of three biomarkers that are linked to inflammation in the body, which has been linked to lower survival rates. All participants also filled out a depression questionnaire. According to the findings, 35% of patients had moderate to severe depressive symptoms.

In this randomized trial, standard treatment of rifampin and isoniazid for 24 weeks plus pyrazinamide and ethambutol for the initial 8 weeks was compared with an initial treatment of bedaquiline–linezolid for 8 weeks, extended treatment for persistent clinical disease, monitoring after treatment, and retreatment for relapse. The shorter approach was determined to be non-inferior.

In 60 medical centers, 1,500 patients were randomized to either a restrictive or liberal fluid strategy. The 90-day mortality rate was 14% in the fluid-restrictive group and 14.9% in the liberal group, equating to statistical equivalence between the two approaches.

In this study, more than 12,000 patients 18 years and older with hospitalization for extremity fracture were randomized to LWMH or aspirin. Rates of DVT were 1.7% and 2.5%, respectively. PE, bleeding complications, and other SAEs were similar across groups. Death occurred in 0.73% and 0.78% respectively for LWMH and aspirin.
