In this study involving 452 patients with diagnoses of MDD, GAD, and PTSD, IM ketamine reduced depression by 38% and anxiety by 50%, with persistence over 7 months of maintenance therapy.

Some studies in children have reported a relationship between antidepressant use in pregnancy and neurodevelopment disorders after birth. In this analysis of 145,702 antidepressant-exposed and 3,032,745 unexposed pregnancies, crude results suggested up to a doubling in risk of neurodevelopmental outcomes. Significantly, however, no association was observed after balancing for confounding variables.

An observational analysis reviewed 54 studies and two medical record databases with data for 1.2 million individuals, to determine how many people experienced at least 1 of the 3 self-reported Long COVID symptom clusters 3 months after infection. The results indicate a Long COVID rate of 6.2%: 3.7% for ongoing respiratory problems, 3.2% for persistent fatigue with bodily pain or mood swings, and 2.2% for cognitive problems.

To test whether low doses of the NMDA-receptor partial-agonist D-cycloserine would enhance intermittent TBS (iTBS) treatment outcomes in MDD, this single-site 4-week, double-blind, placebo-controlled, randomized clinical trial compared TBS with D-cycloserine vs. TBS with placebo. The TBS plus D-cycloserine group had greater improvements in MADRS scores compared with the iTBS plus placebo group, with a mean difference of −6.15.

Digital tools are emerging modalities for behavior modification in major depressive disorder, chronic insomnia, and substance use disorders. These evidence-based therapeutic software systems intervene in the prevention, management, or treatment of a medical disorder or disease. Examples of digital therapeutics include apps that deliver cognitive behavior therapy for chronic insomnia or psychoeducation for opioid use disorder. Because digital tools capture real-time patient data they can provide clinicians with a more accurate picture of a patient’s mental status or treatment progress than one-time self-reports during office visits.
